"Ophelia" Moms

10 years ago, when I was 13, in 8th grade, 6 moms and their daughters read "Reviving Ophelia" and met to discuss the book. We daughters already knew each other one way or another. What started as a mother-daughter book club began a remarkable journey of friendships that still exist 10+ years later!  We took on the name of the "Ophelia Group". For years, after completing "Reviving Ophelia", we continued meeting on a regular basis - including going on camping trips and over-nighters (a.k.a slumber parties!).  Until we graduated from High School and began going our separate ways... We're all over the national grid now! From Kauai, to New York, to Oregon, to Wyoming, to Montana! But all of our mothers still live here on Kauai and meet as the "Ophelia Moms". Last weekend one of our Ophelia Girls got married!!! 5 of the 6 moms (we missed you Aunty Char!) were there. And 3 of the 6 girls were able to make it (and I DIDNT get a picture! AHHH!). We all come from such diverse backgrounds and bring our own VERY unique perspective and life-experiences to the group! What a treasure!

These are 5 of the 6 moms at Jenna's Wedding. Aren't they Beautiful!IMG_5187-2

Love the Ophelia mention. That really was such a huge part of our adolescence. Hopefully we can do a full blown reunion sometime soon. Like a 15 year reunion :P
