Halloween Fun (and not so fun)

Last weekend we went to a really fun Halloween Party! Makoa has become intrigued with Spiderman ever since we visited his cousin in Las Vegas (who also love this crawly super-hero). He didn't even know who Spiderman was before then! Now he just can't get enough. Anyway, my aunt that we're staying with just happened to have a Spiderman costume! He was in HEAVEN!

Ezekiel Ka'imi went as a baby Jedi. My mother-in-law made this little, reversible cape for Makoa when he was born. (In case you didn't already know, Cameron is a Jedi Master, so naturally, his sons would have to be!)

Halloween day (yesterday) we went trick-or-treating at the local Mall. It was very successful. Makoa could hardly believe so many people were just giving him candy! It was so entertaining. He didn't even say "trick-or-treat" he just stood there looking cute until they stopped giving him candy. Then, he would just stare into his candy bag, bewildered really. Then every few steps he would want to stop and look in his bag just to make sure it was all there, I think. And of course, the torture was that he couldn't eat it all! He was also fascinated with all the costumes! And all the KIDS! I think he was in some degree of glory.

Here are some pictures before he smeared the face paint:

My treat of the holiday was that I FINALLY got a new phone... which means I can conveniently take pictures (and videos, if I so please) again! Here we are driving back from trick-or-treating at the Mall. (You can see Spiderman in his car seat). Yes, that spider web on my face was the extent of my festivities.

Ezekiel Ka'imi. My brown-eyed baby!! I freaking LOVE this face!!!!!  He was a trooper trick-or treating from his stroller! IMG00004

Spiderman (aka Makoa) assisting mom in the "trying the new phone camera" and taking a break from his costume... but he couldn't quite ditch the face paint... entirely...

My cousin sent me this picture, so I thought I'd just throw it on here. Me and Makoa at the Pumpkin Walk a while ago.

And what spooky holiday would be complete without some sort of scare? Makoa was stung on his foot by a yellow jacket. His father has been deemed "allergic" to bees, so I was a little panicked that Makoa would have a really bad reaction on top of the pain he was in. I felt so pathetic, maybe it was seeing my baby in pain, or I really am that inexperienced, but after checking to make sure there was no stinger (we weren't positive it wasn't a bee at the time, we later went back to examine the culprit and diagnosed him a yellow jacket - JERK!)...I didn't know what to do!!! I am so glad I had family around. My Aunt Liz mixed Baking Soda with some water and put it on the sting to withdraw some of the venom/poison (pictured) and we gave him some antihistamene (I know that not how its spelt) and pain reliever. He calmed down after a little while, but was limping for a bit after. He didn't get to go for round two if trick-or-treating in the neighborhood because of it. (I didn't think he cared much). It's looking much better this morning.

Hey Alicia, sorry it has taken me a lifetime and a half to write you back. It was good to hear from you. I am sorry you and your family are facing such an interesting time with the move to the big island. I know Adam and I think it is a lot of fun that you all moved here.
I totally don't mind that you add me to your blog, I will do the same :) By the way, I love your photography. I know you are most likely going to end up in Vegas, but Adam and I (well, let's be honest, its mostly me) have been looking for a great photographer to take our family pictures. Everyone in Rexburg are way too expensive and most of them completely booked. I don't know if you would be interested, but if you are available I would LOVE it if you could take our family pictures maybe over Thanksgiving time? I know you might not be in Utah at that time, but if you are and you have some time we would love it. Let me know what you think.
p.s I love the Christmas poem idea, I think I might just have to steal it. Even though we don't have kids yet to do this with, I think it would be fun with just the two of us. Cute idea.
