Teach Them

I was reading Alma 37 this morning and had one of those “oohh! I like that!” moments. I like it so much I felt like sharing it! The whole chapter was full of instruction for Alma’s son, Helman, and therefore full of truth and pearls! But the section that stood out to me this morning was this,

Alma 37:33-35

“Preach unto them repentance, and faith on the Lord Jesus Christ; teach then to humble themselves and to be meek and lowly in heart; teach them to withstand every temptation of the devil, with their faith on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Teach them to never be weary of good works, but to be meek and lowly in heart; for such shall find rest to their souls.

O, remember, my son, and learn wisdom in thy youth; yea, learn in thy youth to keep the commandments of God.”

So much instruction! And I need instruction! I love this and am seriously considering putting this up in my house somewhere to be reminded often of the things I should be teaching my family. I think I am going to start collecting (and hopefully sharing) when I come across instructions in the scriptures that can be applicable to parenting!
