I'm not even going to pretend that I'm going to be able to catch up. July was incredibly busy and I loved every minute of it. I think I weened myself off of the computer a little because either I didn't have it or didn't have time to use it. It was kind of fabulous.
Anyway, here are some pictures from my "July 2012" folder.
There was a fire in Alpine, just east of us (about 20 minutes ish.) The mountain looked like it had volcanically erupted, it was eerie but fascinating at the same time.
This is a cute picture my cousin, Rachel, had of some of my cousins/uncles/aunt/Grandma/siblings/children on my dad's side. I love this picture. It make me smile.
A 4th of July treat I found on pinterest. (I forgot what website it led me to).
Another 4th of July treat. I love strawberries + white chocolate + blue sprinkles. This one was a big hit!
Yes, this is our "U.S.A" watermelon. I wanted to do stars but couldn't find a cookie cutter for it, so I used the letter cutters I had... it worked.
Ka'imi doing what he loves. This kid will eat meat like there's no tomorrow. I'm pretty sure he had at least 2 bratwursts... (gag me)... and maybe a hot dog or two.
This was our backyard set up, with chairs around the fire pit/grill... it was a fun evening and I appreciated everyone help.
We spent a day at Seven Peaks Salt Lake and it was a BLAST! I liked that park so much better than the one in Provo because it was much more kid friendly and much less crowded. Plus the company made it awesome.
My dad playing Ikaika in one of the pools.
I mentioned in my last post that we were at the Hot Lava Springs in Idaho and on our way to Yellowstone. Yellowstone really should have it's own post, but alas, it will not. I am summarizing the trip according to the pictures.
Cameron & My dad jumping off the 10 meter platform (33 ft ish) at Hot Lava Springs heated pool.
Ikaika and I, chillin because he had Hand, Foot & Mouth disease! Not joking. The morning we were leaving I took him in to the Dr to make sure it wasn't strep (he had been feverish and fussy the day before)... and hello! It must have been a minor case because he only had 2 ish days that were really miserable, Makoa got it two days later when we were in Yellowstone. Ka'imi must have had it the week before, but we didn't suspect anything. Oh, the fun (not) things we get to deal with when trying to take care of our kids!
You can see some of the slides, the platforms and the diving boards behind us.
At a scenic stop, this crazy looking caterpillar was found and practically loved to death by Ka'imi. I can't remember what Makoa and Ka'imi named him (that's what I get for taking so long to record details), but we did release him before we got back into the vehicles.
Makoa, Josh, Ikaika, Cam, Ty, Ka'imi & Gabe at the Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone Park.
Ikaika & Cam. The picture doesn't do it justice, but this spot was Cameron's favorite. It was really cool.
because I'm goofy like that hardly end up in pictures.
We walked/hiked (a little over .3 miles in the heat) to get to this warm springs where the boiling green river (spring?) entered the regular cold river. It smelt musty and warm and sulfuric but if you found just the right spot the water was nice and toasty. It wasn't very kid friendly though. Ka'imi and Makoa wanted to be where the big kids were but the current was too strong for them to play there. My aunt is in the white hat with Ka'imi on her lap.
Although there were a few spots that were calm, but hardly warm. Ikaika didn't care. Oh yeah, we did see a small water snake there too.
The third day we headed to Old Faithful and along the way we say TONS of geysers! It felt like we were in a prehistoric world. So cool.
Ka'imi and Makoa wating in front of Old Fathful
Makoa, Josh, Ty, Cam, Ka'imi, Steph & Ikaika
Our little family.
Old Fathful "going off!!"
A group shot (my dad is behind the camera) after Old Faithful calmed down. =) Don't mind the cheery faces... it was an early morning for us!
The next three are my favorite images I got while we visited the "Prismatic Spring" and the surrounding springs. The colors were breathtaking. I am pleased with these images I got!
We didn't see many animals, which made it rough for the kids. But we did see a bunch of Bison (one walked right past us on the other side of the road... my dad has a picture of it) and a handful of Elk. no bears, no wolves. But I still enjoyed the experience, probably because Cameron drove the whole time. I would have been a grouchy mama if I had to do that much driving - I'll be honest! =)
Here the Bison that was literally in the other lane holding up a line of cars.
