Ka’imi Moment

Ka’imi, dressed in an oversized Storm Trooper costume, tripped and bonked his head on the corner of a wall. Crying, he climbed onto my bed to me. As I held him like a newborn (he’s almost 3), I had one of those moments I wish I could freeze forever. He had blue toothpaste in his hair, tears slowly slipping down his cheek onto my shirt, chocolate around the edges of his mouth and on his full lips. It was absolutely precious.

Special Sunday

For the first time ever, Makoa bore his testimony in Sacrament meeting. He insisted against my hesitations.  He was so confident about what he was going to say. When he got up to the pulpit (by himself, mind you) it went a little something like this.

“Mom, what do I say?” he asks me at the mic.

I turned beat red, and was a few rows back in the congregation so I gave him an encouraging nod and smile.

“Mom, what should I say?” he asks again.

Bishop Mulvey helped him out, and amazingly helped Makoa say the exact things he went up there to say.

“I love my family. I love Jesus… Mom, now what do I say?”

I mouthed the words “I say these things…”

“What?” he asks.

So I mouth, “In the name of Jesus Christ…”

“Amen.” he finishes.

I wrote that down in both of our journals. I love that kid.

As I sat on Makoa’s bed tonight with his feet in my lap for me to rub, I closed my eyes and  simply listened to Cameron read the little boys “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, I was reminded how good  my life is.

Cameron’s soothing voice put Ka’imi to sleep before the end of the story.

His soothing voice during our family prayer calmed Makoa’s earlier troubled mind, and brought the Spirit into our  home.  I am lucky. He is a good man.

Makoa asked for one song before I said goodnight. By the end of the song, his breathing was slow, deep and rhythmic  - I knew he had fallen asleep.

I count my blessings when bedtimes are ridiculously good.

Reading Frenzy!

Okay, I finally decided to branch away from Harry Potter/Twilight and got some amazing recommendations! After reading Hunger Games, I have been on a reading frenzy! Discovering that I can put books on hold at the library’s website has been phenomenal!

I have read:

Birthmarked by Caragh M. O’Brien – Loved it! Hope there is a sequel!

Uglies by Scott Westerfield – Really Liked it, I have Pretties and Specials sitting on my dresser waiting to be read. I hear Extras isn’t worth reading, so I’m not going to worry about  it since I have a bunch of other books I want to read.

These is My Words by Nancy E. Turner – I LOVED this book. I thought it was a true story (turns out its historical fiction), so that a bummer, but seriously, this story is incredible!

Keys to the Demon Prison (Fablehaven #5) by Brandon Mull – Finished this series, and I think it is one of my favorites! Which is a good thing since I actually own them all :) This last book did not disappoint.

The Battle of the Labyrinth (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #4) by Rick Riordan – This is not one of my favorite series,  but it’s easy reading and the adventures are interesting. I am ready to read the last book. :)

I have a very long list of books to read, and you can find me on GoodReads, if you care to!

I have a friend who is a Librarian at the High School and recommended this blog, http://kissthebook.blogspot.com And I have found it  incredibly  helpful!

Happy Reading!

#12.

We’re moving.

In fact, when this posts, we very well may be moving or moved. We’re not going far. Just upgrading to a 3 bedroom which we really need.  Looks like Malu & Ty will be with us at least until the summer. And I am going mad (like mad-hatter, mad) with Makoa and Ka’imi in my room/bed. I feel like I haven’t slept in three years. (Yes, I’ve said this before but it’s TRUE!)

AND I’m getting the unexplainable feeling like it’s time to have another one, but I am more than hesitant with our current situation. This will work out really well for many, many reasons.

It’s a blessing from a loving Father in Heaven. I know it.

I don’t particularly want  to move (this will be #12 move in my married life. True story!) because I hate packing and unpacking, but it will be one of the easiest. For that I am grateful.

So many things to be grateful  for right now!
